Dolomiti Get Past Leipzig for 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Bolzano Dolomiti and the Leipzig Kaufmaenner, Ubaldo Mezzatesta, who is tied for 3rd in the WLK in wins with 11, proved to be the difference. The Bolzano right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Dolomiti win. Cesar Arfè, who is tied for 6th in the WLK in innings pitched with 170.2, nailed down the save. The Dolomiti, at 41-35, sit in second place in the Allgemeine Teilung.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out, Gianni Boncompagni hit a 0-1 slider from Madison Gardner for a run-scoring single. It put Bolzano in front, 2-1.
"Ubaldo's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Roberto Baldera, the Dolomiti manager.
