The Bolzano Dolomiti reigned over the Munich Schaeffler in damp conditions.
The Bolzano Dolomiti topped the Munich Schaeffler, 6-3, in Westlicher Kreis action at Schaeffler-Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Bolzano pitcher Jim Hughey. Hughey yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 9-7.
In the top of the 6th, third baseman Uberto Antuofermo gave Bolzano the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Dolomiti had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Munich pitcher Fritz Miller changed that -- and Bolzano went on to win.
Hughey called the win "a team effort."
Bolzano is third in the Allgemeine Teilung with a record of 62-51.
