Narrow Win Takes Niigata Streak to 7
The Niigata Hakuchoh needed 10 innings to beat the Morioka Ayame, 7-6, at Hakuchoh Park. The win was due in part to second baseman Masayuki Okamoto, who went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Donnie Williams in relief. His record improves to 7-2. Masuto Matsui took the loss for Morioka. At 32-11, Niigata is in first place in the Northern League.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Niigata center fielder Yonetoshi Kano, facing Masuto Matsui, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Hakuchoh the 7-6 win.

"Piling up wins will eventually take us to the promised land," said Kano.
