Starting pitcher Steve Stewart was a major factor in the 5-2 Seki Katanakaji triumph over the Kagoshima Teitoku. Stewart, now 8-4, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. The Katanakaji improved their record to 26-20 by beating Kagoshima.
Seki used the hitting of Remco Maas to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Katanakaji on top, 1-0. For the game, Maas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
