Wet weather did not postpone the Cumana-Guatire ballgame.

Cumana starter Ramón Rodríguez pitched well against the Guatire Heroes at Parque de Cumana. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. The Atunes, at 35-26, lead by one game in their division.

Pacífico Villalobos drew 1 walk for Cumana. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Villalobos, who is a two-time All-Star, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Guatire hurler Eliezer Rivera, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Atunes a 3-2 lead.

Said losing manager Dick McBride: "We've got to find a way to push a run across."
