The Matsuyama Kawauso picked up a win at Fukuyama Grounds, topping the Fukuyama Komori, 5-0. On the mound for Matsuyama was right-hander Tsugunosuke Torigoe. He played a principal role in the triumph. The winner was Torigoe. He threw 8.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Akinami Mishima. Shigeru Fujiwara earned the save for Matsuyama, his 1st.
Matsuyama used a well-timed hit by Esquilo Sánchez to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Kawauso ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm happy we won," said Torigoe. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
