The Maturin Petroleros earned a close win over the Caracas Sultanes, thanks in part to Eunice Engana. The Maturin right-hander, who finished 3rd in the LE in strikeouts with 62 in 1909, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. The winner was Engana. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Bermudo Muñoz. The Petroleros raised their record to 61-32.

Manuel Álvarez was a prime factor in the win for the Petroleros. In the bottom of the third with one out, the three-time All-Star hit a 2-run single. He was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI.
