The Niigata Hakuchoh had no problem beating the Kamakura Kodaibito, 11-1, at Hakuchoh Park. Ron Sabine, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in total bases with 127, led the onslaught. He was 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs for Niigata. Aquiles Caraveo, the winner, goes to 10-7. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts over 9 innings. With the win, Niigata goes to 39-35, while the Kodaibito fall to 33-41.
Yonetoshi Kano had a big 2-run double for the Hakuchoh in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Niigata leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 28-year old left-handed pitcher Yoshio Ito and swatted a double to right. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hakuchoh ahead, 4-1.
