The Valencia Industriales were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Barquisimeto Crepusculares and hurler Mateus Balieiro. Balieiro kept the Industriales confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Balieiro," Valencia manager Nick Hukill said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 21-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Balieiro said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

For the year, Balieiro has compiled a 10-4 record with a 1.85 ERA.
