In a low-scoring contest between the Barinas Viajeros and the Merida Caballeros, Pero Sogliano, who finished 4th in the LO in innings pitched with 251.2 in 1906, proved to be the difference. The Barinas right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Viajeros win. Sogliano yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 0, and struck out 1. His record improves to 9-13. The 4th-place Viajeros improved to 51-54.

Bradley Beattie had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Barinas. He came through with a run-scoring double to put Barinas in front, 3-1.

"Pero was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Barinas manager Samuel Morales.
