The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.

The Kumamoto Kuma powered past the Seki Katanakaji, 9-3, at Kuma Stadium. Eddie Duffy provided some of the pop. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Getting the save was Ben Lowe, his 3rd.

With Kumamoto leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Duffy hit a sinker from Steve Stewart for a run-scoring double. It was his 27th double of the season and put the Kuma ahead, 3-1.

"Eddie is still learning," said Kuma manager Plinio Cortez. "The sky's the limit for him."

With the win, the Kuma improved to 41-38.
