The Seki Katanakaji topped the Iga Shinobi, 5-4, in Southern League action at Katanakaji Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Seki pitcher and Río Grande, Puerto Rico, native Marco Baca. Baca yielded 4 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 8-10. Picking up the save was Hideki Uemura, his 4th.

Ryo Hirayama had a big bases-clearing double for the Katanakaji in the bottom of the third inning. With Seki leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Katsuo Abe and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 25th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Katanakaji ahead, 4-0.

Baca said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
