Fukushima got a terrific game from center fielder Mokuo Morita. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Niigata, 10-9. Morita went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Niigata is 50-41 and Fukushima, with the loss, 48-43.

The Hakuchoh got a clutch hit from third baseman Harold Armitage. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Hakuchoh.

In postgame comments to the Niigata News, Armitage said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
