The Kagoshima Teitoku defeated the Seki Katanakaji, 7-4, in Southern League action at Katanakaji Stadium. Kagoshima pitcher Desiderio Pérez had a standout performance. The third-place Teitoku are 52-43.

Kagoshima shortstop Masahiro Nakao contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 89th hit of the season and put the Teitoku ahead, 6-1.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Nakao. "I just want to win ballgames."
