The Hakodate Daiouika topped the Fukushima Kamome, 4-3, in Northern League action at Daiouika Park. The standout performance belonged to Hakodate pitcher and Factoryville, Pennsylvania, native Christy Mathewson. Kotaro Kawamura picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Shuji Okamura, who is tied for 8th in the NL in wins with 13, was tagged with the loss. The Daiouika sport a record of 42-61.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 30-year old third baseman Darío Garrido had a chance to be the hero. Fukushima pitcher Shuji Okamura wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Garrido hit a sacrifice fly. The Daiouika had themselves a thrilling win.

"This place was jumping at the end," Garrido said.
