The Aomori Hotaru defeated the Niigata Hakuchoh, 10-2, in Northern League action at Aomori Grounds. Aomori pitcher Josh Shields had a standout performance. The Hotaru improved their record to 63-42 by beating Niigata.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Aomori Grounds seemed to enjoy watching the Northern League action.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Niigata manager Propercio Salazar. "They smoked us."
