The rain came, as predicted, but the Kumamoto Kuma and Kagoshima Teitoku were able to complete their ballgame.

The Kumamoto Kuma had to overcome a fine effort from Kagoshima pitcher Yugo Toguchi to win, 6-5, at Teitoku Park. Toguchi went 9 innings and allowed 6 runs. The win went to Ben Lowe in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Yugo Toguchi took the loss.

Tatsuo Ochiai drove in one run for Kumamoto. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Ochiai had a clutch at-bat. Facing Kagoshima hurler Yugo Toguchi, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Kuma a 6-5 lead.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ochiai. "And not try to do too much."

Kumamoto, at 62-53, sits in second place in the Southern League.
