Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Kagoshima Teitoku take on the Kumamoto Kuma.

No one was more impactful than Tom Downey in the 6-3 Kumamoto win over Kagoshima. Downey, who is tied for 8th in the SL in stolen bases with 14, went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. The Kuma, at 63-53, sit in second place in the Southern League.

Kanbu Nakano went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Kumamoto. The 28-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Desiderio Pérez. It was his 92nd hit of the season.
