The Hakodate Daiouika locked up a win at Daiouika Park, knocking off the Niigata Hakuchoh, 8-1. On the mound for Hakodate was right-hander Christy Mathewson. He played a major role in the triumph. Mathewson, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 286.2, went the distance for Hakodate. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. Hakodate goes to 48-74, Niigata to 69-53.

Koki Fukushima hit a 2-run double off Aquiles Caraveo in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Daiouika in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Fukushima had 2 singles, while going 3 for 4.

"It feels good to get this one," Fukushima told the Hakodate Citizen.
