The Caracas Sultanes, despite a fine performance by Nueva Esparta pitcher Carlomaria Coscia, grabbed a 3-2 win in 10 innings at Estadio de Nueva Esparta. Coscia allowed 2 runs over 9 innings. The 6th-place Cunaguaros dropped to 41-70.

Caracas used the timely hitting of Rubén Sagastume to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sultanes on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

"I'll play 10 innings, I'll play 20," said Sultanes manager Rosario Reyes. "Whatever it takes to win the ballgame."
