Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Merida Caballeros take on the Coro Bizantinos.

The Coro Bizantinos defeated the Merida Caballeros, 8-7, in 10 innings. Hormisdas Arce led the way, going 4-for-6 for Coro. Coro pitcher Canice Gray got the win. He's now 5-3. Raúl Rodríguez was tagged with the loss.

Coro used the timely hitting of Alberto Guerrero to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bizantinos on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Merida manager Plinio Cardona.

Coro is now 71-45, while Merida is 56-60.
