The Maracay Jardineros picked up a win at Barquisimeto Stadium, downing the Barquisimeto Crepusculares, 5-4. On the mound for Maracay was left-hander Reginaldo Alonso, who played a pivotal role in the win. Maracay, now 62-55, holds down third place in the Liga Oeste.
José María Jiménez had a big run-scoring triple for the Jardineros in the top of the sixth inning. With Maracay leading 4-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Evaristo Adauto and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 19th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jardineros ahead, 5-2.
"I was a little disappointed," said Barquisimeto manager Jim Corkum. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
