Fernando Mascorro pitched a gem to lead Coro to victory over the Barinas Viajeros, 3-1. The Bizantinos lead the Liga Oeste by 8½ games.

Martín García had a big run-scoring double for the Bizantinos in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Coro leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Pero Sogliano, who finished 3rd in the LO in wins with 19 in 1909, and swatted a double to left. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bizantinos ahead, 3-1.

"Fernando had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Coro manager Pablo Moreno.
