Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Maracay Jardineros take on the Barquisimeto Crepusculares.
The Maracay Jardineros picked up a win at Jardines de Maracay, dropping the Barquisimeto Crepusculares, 6-2. Patroclo Zaragoza, who finished 2nd in the LO in innings pitched with 256.0 last year, was the difference-maker. The 4th-place Crepusculares now sit at 65-67.
The Jardineros got a big hit from left fielder Noé Martínez. Facing Barquisimeto pitcher Evaristo Adauto in the bottom of the fifth, Martínez pounded a run-scoring double to left-center. His 19th double of the season put the Jardineros ahead, 3-1.
Zaragoza pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
