Valencia and Barinas took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Barinas Viajeros could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Nehemías Sandoval into a win. Instead, the Valencia Industriales prevailed, 3-2. Sandoval threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Nicolás Fernández was the winner. He's now 8-12. The loser was Nehemías Sandoval. Samuel Gámez collected his 15th save.
In the top of the second, Valencia third baseman Esteban Ibarra had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Ibarra stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 2-0, Valencia. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI.
Ibarra called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
