Waterville Breaks Through for First Win in Division Series; Now Trails 2-1
The Waterville Elms have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Auburn Cordwainers, winning, 7-1, at The Grove. Elms right-hander Catón López threw 7.2 innings allowing 1 run. The win cuts the deficit facing the Elms to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Mateo Díaz contributed to the Waterville win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Díaz said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Grove in Waterville.
