Game 5 was big. So was José Muñoz.

The Auburn starter rose to the occasion at The Grove, leading the Cordwainers to a crucial 6-1 victory over the Waterville Elms. Muñoz threw 9.0 innings of 3-hit ball as the Cordwainers won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Muñoz pitched a complete game for Auburn. The right-hander, who calls Havana, Cuba, his home, racked up 12 Ks, while allowing just 3 hits. Elms hitters could not touch his changeup -- nor any other pitch, for that matter.

"José was cooking with gas," said Auburn manager Esteban Hernández.

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at The Shoebox in Auburn.
