The Veracruz Vigias started the Serie Eliminatoria in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Michoacan Calaveras at Campo Municipal de Morelia by a score of 14-2 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Vigias right-hander Salomón Portillo turned in a fine performance. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball.

The tide might have turned in the bottom of the second, had not Salomón Portillo made a big pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Calaveras trailing 3-0, he retired Absalón Castro when the Michoacan catcher hit into a double play.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Campo Municipal de Morelia in Morelia.
