The Barre Headstones have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Manchester Gamblers, winning, 10-4, at Gamblers' Den. Headstones designated hitter Abdías de León went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The win cuts the deficit facing the Headstones to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Division Series.
In the top of the third, Barre center fielder Heliodoro Hidalgo had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Manchester hurler Hipólito Galván, Hidalgo drew a walk, driving in 1 run. That made the score 3-0, Barre. For the day, Hidalgo was 1-4 with a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"We were a little off-kilter to start the series, but we're getting things figured out now," Barre manager Édgar Huerta told reporters. "At least I hope we are."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, August 28th , 1913 at The Graveyard in Barre.
