Tempe Win to Pull Even With Taos
The Tempe Olympians and the Taos Artists will take the Pennant Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Olympians beat the Artists, 5-1, at Taos Grounds to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Tempe right-hander Teófilo Espinal had a big role in the win. He threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball.

Rosendo Mercado dealt the Artists a blow in the top of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Tempe leading 1-0, Mercado hit a first pitch sinker for a 2-run single.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Tempe manager Matt Austin told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Taos Grounds in Taos.
