Tempe Tops Waco Again, 5-3
A strong performance from pitcher Crisóstomo Yáñez was not enough for the Waco Mammoths, who were stopped by the visiting Tempe Olympians, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Championship of the Frontier. The Olympians never truly figured out the right-handed Yáñez, who threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Still, the Olympians now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-9 series.

The Olympians took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Waco hurler Crisóstomo Yáñez with two outs, Perseo Vogel hit a 2-run single.

"It's a gut punch," Mammoths manager Guarionex Guzmán said, "to get here and find ourselves down 0-2 in the blink of an eye."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Olympians Ballpark in Tempe.
