Newport Win Brings Series to 1-1
Behind a bravura effort from starter Santiago Treviño, the Newport Pilot Whales topped the Manchester Gamblers by the score of 5-3 and got their first win in the 1913 Championship of New England. Treviño threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the Pilot Whales. The win moves Newport into a 1-1 tie with Manchester.

Nuño Yañes came through with a big-time hit for Newport. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It feels a lot better to be tied than to be behind, even if it is only one game," Newport manager Pablo Morales said.

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 11th , 1913 at The Pod Pad in Newport.
