With third baseman Lienhart Schaecter leading the charge, the Maracaibo Independientes defeated the visiting Barquisimeto Crepusculares, 7-6, in Game 2 of the Serie Preliminar. Schaecter was 2-5 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 at Estadio de Maracaibo to help Maracaibo force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.

Schaecter had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a 2-run double. The Independientes went on to win.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Schaecter, "but a win in the playoffs is nothing to sniff at."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Estadio de Maracaibo in Maracaibo.
