Las Tunas Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
With right-hander Constancio Hernández leading the charge, the Las Tunas Escultores got past the Manzanillo Martenos, 3-2, in extra innings in Game 2 of the Campeonato Interdivisional. Hernández threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs at Campo de los Martenos as Las Tunas managed to grab a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
This game was not decided until Lino Rosario came to bat in the top of the tenth. With a runner on 3rd and one out, the Las Tunas first baseman hit a sacrifice fly. The Escultores took the lead, 3-2.
"We aren't quitting," Manzanillo manager Bruce Lowry said. "Yeah, the odds are definitely in their favor, but they've got to earn it."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 18th , 1913 at Estadio de los Escultores in Las Tunas.
