Holguin Over Trinidad in 11-1 Romp
The Holguin Pericos moved to within one game of the Campeonato de las Ligas, downing the visiting Trinidad Tabacaleros at Recinto Deportivo de Holguin by a score of 11-1. Pericos right-hander Sergio Ríos had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Pericos a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Campeonato Interdivisional.

Tied up with the Tabacaleros in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Pericos got a boost from catcher Honorio Hernandes. With a runner on 3rd, Hernandes saw a 1-2 sinker from Mariano Sandoval and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Holguin on top, 2-1.

"What a debacle," groaned Trinidad manager Jerry Dorsey in postgame remarks.

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Campo de los Tabacaleros in Trinidad.
