Maracay Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in SE
The Maracay Jardineros moved to within one game of the Campeonato de las Ligas, downing the Maracaibo Independientes, 3-1, in a low-scoring affair at Jardines de Maracay. Leading the way for the Jardineros was hurler Patroclo Zaragoza. He threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Jardineros a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Serie Eliminatoria.

The Independientes had trouble solving Zaragoza, who surrendered 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings.

"I like the roll we're on," said Maracay manager Alberto Méndez.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday at Estadio de Maracaibo in Maracaibo.
