Campeonato de las Ligas Game 1 Goes to San Juan, Thanks to Camacho
|
The San Juan Ciudadanos started the Campeonato de las Ligas in style, downing the visiting Aguada Catecumenes at Parquecito de San Juan by a score of 7-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Ciudadanos designated hitter Adrián Camacho was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the fifth, Camacho had a key at-bat for San Juan. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Camacho hit a 3-run home run off Hideaki Hata, making the score 5-2, Ciudadanos.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'San Juan Ciudadanos (probably) 1913 Campeonato Veraniego de Principiantes Champions'," Camacho told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Parquecito de San Juan in San Juan.
