Atunes One Win from Campeonato Nacional de Venezuela Title
|
When the stakes were high, Konan Wray raised his game to match.
The left-handed Wray turned in a stellar performance in Game 4 of the Campeonato Nacional de Venezuela, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Cumana Atunes to victory. He allowed 9 hits and struck out 1. The win gave Cumana a 3-1 lead over the Coro Bizantinos in the best-of-7 series.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Atunes had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when first baseman Ranulfo Bedevia hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Esteban Martín and made the score 3-0, Atunes. Bedevia was 1-4.
Bizantinos manager Pablo Moreno did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Campeonato Nacional de Venezuela."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Parque de Cumana in Cumana.
