Amargados Need Extra Innings to Top Petroleros, 2-1
Fans watched the Angostura Amargados and the Maturin Petroleros fight to the finish.

The Angostura Amargados picked up a win at Estadio de Angostura, knocking off the Maturin Petroleros, 2-1, in 12 innings. Starting pitcher Medardo Crosby played a key role in the triumph. The Liga Este-leading Amargados have a record of 73-54.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the 12th for Angostura. That's when Nicky Gordon, who finished 3rd in the LE in hits with 170 last year, hit a run-scoring double off Fred Glenn to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"Medardo kept his poise and got the job done," said Angostura manager Bruce Lowry. "He was outstanding."
