Fans of the Barinas Viajeros who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Barinas win over the visiting Maracaibo Independientes, 3-2. Víctor Hugo García started for the home team against Luis Almodóvar. Luis Almodóvar earned accolades for his performance. Víctor Hugo García picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0.
