Marmoleros Lose as Leopardos Stage Late Rally
The Santa Clara Leopardos electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.

Nueva Gerona pitcher Basilio Martínez gave the Leopardos all they could handle, but in the end, Santa Clara left Estadio de Santa Clara with a win, 2-1. Martínez allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 8 innings. Santa Clara has a record of 4-2.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 1-1, 28-year old catcher Juan María Luna won it for Santa Clara. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Luna hit a first pitch sinker from Evandro Martín for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.

"We needed two runs to win," said Leopardos manager Jorge Santana, "and that's what we got."
