Juan Rodríguez, who finished 3rd in the TOCC in ERA with 2.02 last year, was locked in. The right-hander led the Matanzas Henequeneros to a 6-5 win against the Santa Clara Leopardos at Campo de Matanzas. Reliever Alrigo Martínez picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Jason Dowdy took the loss. The loss drops Santa Clara to 6-6.

The clutch hit was provided by Filóxenos Díaz. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Jason Dowdy in the bottom of the ninth.

"We've been playing some good baseball," Díaz told the Matanzas Daily News. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
