Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Tabacaleros
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.

The Trinidad Tabacaleros had to overcome a fine effort from Las Tunas pitcher Pedro Medina to win, 8-7, at Campo de los Tabacaleros. Medina went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. With the win, Trinidad improves its record to 4-9.

The Tabacaleros were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 30-year old first baseman Esdras Vásquez landed a big blow. He turned a 1-1 fastball from Natán Rivera into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Campo de los Tabacaleros denizens into a frenzy and sent the Tabacaleros home with a thrilling 8-7 win.

Vásquez said, "Whether you hit the ball hard, you walk, you have a long at-bat, 10 or 12 pitches, or you hit a homer, you're just trying to do anything you can do to help the team win."
