Marmoleros Turn Back Guajiros, 4-2

Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Efraín Lorona, who is tied for 6th in the TOCC with a .438 slugging percentage, the Nueva Gerona Marmoleros defeated the Pinar del Rio Guajiros, 4-2. Constancio Hernández, who is rated as the 47th best prospect by BNN, was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was Carlos Macías. Evandro Martín was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Lorona had a timely hit for Nueva Gerona in the bottom of the sixth. With Nueva Gerona trailing 1-0, he turned a 1-0 changeup into a bases-clearing triple. It was his 1st triple of the season, making it 3-1, Nueva Gerona.
After the game, Nueva Gerona manager Julián Maciel applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
The Guajiros, at 5-13, have stumbled out of the gate.
