Dowdy Bewilders Elefantes in 7-0 Shutout
|
In a remarkable performance, Santa Clara Leopardos starter Jason Dowdy beat the Cienfuegos Elefantes, 7-0, in an impressive 7-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Leopardos hurler finished with 3 strikeouts and no walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Cienfuegos manager Eduardo Galarza said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
To date, Dowdy has a 4-1 mark in 5 starts with a 2.06 ERA. He has given up 38 hits in 43.2 innings, struck out 13 and issued 9 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .226 batting average against him.
