Hurler Kayne Ariss gave the Habana Leones a solid start. The native of Wicklow helped his team defeat the Artemisa Rojos, 3-1, at Parque de los Leones. Ariss, now 3-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Getting the save was Tristán Ruiz, his 2nd.
Tristán Ruiz recorded a big out in the top of the ninth. The Rojos were trailing 3-1, but Artemisa had a runner on 1st with one out. Ruiz threw a 1-2 cutter to Federico Sánchez, who struck out.
The win takes Habana to 9-12.
