Pericos Drop 4-2 Decision
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Estadio de Bayamo enjoyed a good ballgame.
Bayamo pitcher Abdón Farías did his part in helping his team beat the Holguin Pericos, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 8 innings, Farías surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Normando Fraire earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
Jesús Sánchez had an important at-bat. With one out in the bottom of the fourth, he hit a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season put Bayamo on top, 2-0.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Holguin manager Alcides Hernández. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
Holguin falls to 13-12.
