Matanzas starter Carlos Rubio pitched well against the Nueva Gerona Marmoleros at Campo de Matanzas. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. The win makes Matanzas 15-18.
Teodosio García had a big 2-run home run for the Henequeneros in the bottom of the second inning. With Matanzas trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Benicio Pantoja, who is tied for 8th in the TOCC in quality starts with 6, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Henequeneros on top, 2-1.
In postgame comments to the Matanzas Bulletin, García said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
