Santa Clara and Matanzas got after it at Estadio de Santa Clara.

Santa Clara Leopardos starter Ananías Solares hurled his team past the Matanzas Henequeneros, 8-1. Solares, now 2-4, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run.

Though it wasn't a flawless game -- few are -- the fans who filled the stands at Estadio de Santa Clara seemed to enjoy watching the Torneo Occidental action.

"Ananías just settled in and did what he does," said Santa Clara manager Jorge Santana.

The Leopardos improved their record to 19-19 with the win over Matanzas.
