Bayamo Rallies to 8-6 Win
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Bayamo Rafagas and Santiago de Cuba Soneros came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Bayamo Rafagas faced a tough opponent in Santiago de Cuba pitcher Edelmiro Orihuela, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Estadio de Bayamo by a final score of 8-6. Orihuela went 5.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Bayamo reliever Normando Fraire picked up the win, upping his record to 10-10. Perseo Licón took the loss. Cedro Esparza earned the save for Bayamo, his 1st.

Gamaliel Gutiérrez went 1 for 4 with a hit by pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Bayamo. The 18-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Clemente Gutiérrez. It was his 18th RBI of the season.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Gutiérrez, "one at-bat at a time."

The Rafagas, at 24-28, sit in second place in the Torneo Oriental Bayamo.
